Koro has been a vital crop in Lesotho agriculture, introduced during colonial times and becoming an essential part of the Basotho diet. It is often grown in rotation with maize and provides both food security and income for farming communities.
Grows best in temperate climates with moderate rainfall. Requires well-drained soil and cool temperatures during germination. Thrives at altitudes of 1,500-3,000 meters in Lesotho.
Generally safe when processed properly. Some individuals may have gluten intolerance or celiac disease. Raw wheat should not be consumed in large quantities.
